I have a great way of procrastinating when I need things to get done. A sure sign of this was when I thought oh I should make croissants…which I hate making. So I knew I was doing all I could not to be doing what I should. But I still made bread.
I used to not put bread up on the blog. People rarely make it. Bread, well yeast, seems to scare people for some reason. But since I’m going back to this being more just my blog and not worrying about whether people will make it or not I am putting up this lovely loaf of bread. Because as far as bread goes this loaf is pretty darn sexy. Yes, bread can be sexy. Many people moan while eating it. 😉
I’m just going to link to the recipe. As I followed it to a T. It was interesting. The use of the ice cubes in a cast iron skillet as well as the title of 4 hour baguette intrigued me. I ended up shaping mine as a batard but it turned out lovely all the same.
The other great news is that when I should be packing up my kitchen (my landlord wants to do renovations to the kitchen while I live here…umm, yeah) I instead have been coming up with all sorts of ideas of things to make for the blog. So that’s a plus. Minus the fact I won’t get to make any of it for a while.
I’m off to color coordinate my socks or alphabetize my spices…you know something more useful than packing the kitchen up. 😀
If you want to try the bread yourself go here.

I wish I were this productive when I procrastinate. I tend to just stand there staring at cookbooks and thinking about what recipe to make, procrastination on my procrastination. 🙂
This bread reminds me of the French baguette recipe my mom used to make all the time that she got from my grandmother, who got it from her mother, who got it from her mother, who…all the way back up to the original French ancestor, probably with changes made over the centuries. 😛 I need to ask my mom if she still has that recipe…but I can be patient, since this one looks perfect!
