These Bomb Pop Jelly Shots make your summer childhood favorite into boozy summertime red, white, and blue treat. Bombs away!
It’s coming up on that time of year.
When we get drunk and blow stuff up.
But I’m going to HIGHLY suggest that you don’t blow stuff up this year.
I mean look at how 2020 is going people?
Do you think adding fireworks to that mix will end well for anyone?
Spoiler Alert: It’s wont.
So let’s just focus on the getting drunk part shall we?
My mom is a touch of a neat freak.
To put it mildly.
I’m not sure if it was technically OCD but she definitely is borderline.
We may or may not of messed with her when we were kids.
Moving centerpieces on the table just a hair to the left only to watch her twitch a little until she went and fixed it.
So it should be no surprise that if we were eating popsicles or ice cream cones as kids we had to keep them in a cup so as not to drip.
Even outside.
Because sweet drippy stuff could attract ants.
Ever since getting the Bomb Pop necklace I’ve been craving bomb pops.
I could have had the hubby go get some but we already have a freezer full of Otter Pops (because we are secretly 12).
Totally off the subject, but speaking of Otter Pops, does anyone else think that John Bolton looks like Sir Isaac Lime?
I know it’s not just me, because my husband thinks so too.
Anyway, back to Bomb Pops.
I wanted them and since so many people have been searching Jell-O shots on this site it made sense to make Bomb Pop Jelly Shots.
These are obviously more time consuming than the usual Jelly Shots I make.
Especially if you go to the trouble of making them in a popsicle mold.
Which I fully admit is a total pain but they do make them extra cute.
To get them out of the mold though takes good timing.
As you dip the container in warm water real quick to get them loose.
But I dipped for too long and got my cherry flavor too warm, hence why no shots of them outside of them mold. 😀
These come in the classic flavors of cherry, lime, and blue raspberry.
The white layer is the “odd” layer because it uses unflavored gelatin which is just always thicker than favored gelatin for some reason.
I do flavor the white layer with key lime juice.
It’s a great day to order my cookbook.

Bomb Pop Jelly Shots
Ingredients
- 3 cups water, divided
- 3 oz Jolly Rancher Blue Raspberry Gelatin
- 3 oz Jolly Rancher
- 1 1/2 tsp. unflavored gelatin
- 1 1/2 cups vodka
- 1/4 cup key lime juice
- 3/4 cup heavy cream
- 20 popsicle sticks
Instructions
- Spray popsicle molds lightly with oil/cooking spray and wipe off any excess. If just using cups, no need to spray.
- For the Cherry Layer:
- Bring 1 cup water to a boil.
- Empty cherry gelatin powder into a large mixing bowl and add the boiling water.
- Continue stirring for two minutes or until the jello is completely dissolved.
- Add in a half cup cold water and 1/2 cup vodka.
- Stir until mixed and pour into 2oz. cups 1/3 of the way up.
- Transfer to fridge and let sit for 25 minutes. Ten minutes before the cherry layer is partially set, start the lime layer.
- For the Lime Layer:
- Add 1/4 cup key lime juice in a medium bowl.
- Sprinkle with the unflavored gelatin.
- Bring heavy cream to a boil and pour into the bloomed unflavored vodka.
- Whisk until gelatin has dissolved. Whisk in 1/2 cup vodka.
- Remove cups from fridge and fill the white layer, this time less than 1/3 of the way. Put back in fridge for about 20 minutes. This will be a smaller layer because you have less gelatin.
- For the Blue Raspberry Layer:
- Bring 1 cup water to a boil.
- Empty blue raspberry gelatin powder into a large mixing bowl and add the boiling water.
- Continue stirring for two minutes or until the jello is completely dissolved.
- Add in a half cup cold water and 1/2 cup vodka.
- Stir until mixed and pour over the lime layer up to the top of the cup.
- Place a popsicle stick through the middle of the Jell-O shot, stopping just as it reaches the red layer.
- Place in fridge and let set up for at least two hours.

Have you tried the Smirnoff Red, White & Berry vodka? It tastes just like a bomb pop! Can’t wait to try these jello shots!

I have not. I will have to give it a try. Thanks for the suggestion.
