This Cookie Dough Hot Cocoa is made using melted chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, chocolate milk, and cookie dough bites.
This Cookie Dough Hot Cocoa is just another example of me using ice cream to make hot chocolate.
I do it a lot.
A lot.
And I’ve switched over to using chocolate milk when making chocolate based hot chocolate.
What a concept, I know. π
Also, if you are ever need of some coffee creamer, I also highly recommend using melted ice cream instead.
You might not go back to regular creamer.
This should actually be called Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream Hot Cocoa.
But that was a tad long to try and fit into a tite.
However, that’s what it actually is.
Since the base of it is chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream.
Now, chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream isn’t chocolate based.
And I did think about just using a white chocolate or just having the melted ice cream stand on its own with some milk.
But I was really wanting this to be chocolate flavored.
And it’s why I used chocolate milk in mine.
Do you have to use chocolate milk?
No.
If you only have regular milk you can use that with a packet of cocoa mix.
Or you can just use milk and have the ice cream base be the predominant flavor.
Your choice. You can also use a non-dairy milk.
As I give both the dairy and non-dairy options to make this.
Which ice cream should I choose?
I personally went with Ben and Jerry’s Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream.
Because they are pretty generous with the cookie dough pieces.
Plus I used their extra cookie dough pieces as garnish so it made sense to me.
I also chose Ben and Jerry’s because they make a decent non-dairy chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream as well.
So that my non-dairy peeps can make this too.
Unfortunately the cookie dough bites are not vegan so you don’t get extra’s of those.
But ambitious vegan’s are good and creating their own stuff and I’m sure they have already figured out how to make their own cookie dough bites.
Do note that the Ben and Jerry’s Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Bites are in the freezer section along with the ice cream.
And you have to keep them in the freezer until you need to use them.
Whether you are making this as a dairy version or a non-dairy version it doesn’t matter.
Well, it might matter to the person you are serving it to depending on their dietary choices. π
But what really matters is that you make it.
And it goes without saying that this is a huge hit with kids.
As well as those adults who still eat like kids (raises hand).
P.S. Itβs a great day to buy my cookbook.
