Creamsicle Bavarian Cream Push Pop is a twist on the orange push pops I grew up with as a kid but instead of ice cream it’s Bavarian cream.
Summer Dessert Week continues with Creamsicle Bavarian Cream Push Pop.
It’s my ode to one of my favorite ice cream treats growing up.
Long time readers of this blog know that I have an obsession with creamsicle flavored desserts and baked goods.
The original push pops that I grew up with was basically orange sherbet in polka dotted toilet paper rolls.
Yes, that’s what they looked like.
They had a lid you had to pull off.
And half the time the lid stuck and so you had a little bit of the lid paper on the top…but you ate it anyway. Or ate least I did. 😀
These do require special equipment.
And I really hate doing that but what makes these fun is the push pop container.
So you do need to get the push pop containers.
I bought mine on Amazon.
You can make cupcake push pops with the leftovers….there are lots of recipes on the internet for them.
If you don’t want to buy these you can make this in an 8-x-8-inch pan.
It will still be tasty just not as fun.
I know someone will ask, I don’t know if these can be frozen?
I haven’t done it but it’s might.
The addition of the gelatin is the one thing that might mess it up.
I say throw a test on in there and see. If it works, great. If not, you only ruined one of them. 😀
What about other flavors?
Sure, you have a lot of options.
You could substitute the orange sherbet for vanilla ice cream. And then instead of the 3 TBSP of orange concentrate use lemonade frozen concentrate for a Frozen Lemonade kind of vibe.
Substitute the orange sherbet for vanilla ice cream. And then instead of the 3 TBSP of orange concentrate use limeade frozen concentrate for a Frozen Limeade kind of vibe.
You could substitute the orange sherbet for pineapple sherbet. And then instead of the 3 TBSP of orange concentrate use frozen pineapple concentrate for a Dole Whip kind of flavor.
