Every notice that when you try to cook something different for the holidays everyone gets upset. I am no exception to the rule. This year my family is coming for the holidays…in fact, they should be here in just a few hours. My mom is cooking our “traditional” family meal that we grew up on. Turkey, mashed potoates, corn casserole, cranberry salad, and sweet potoates. But this year it is not the sweet potatoes of yester-year. No, this year we are appeasing my husband and going with a souffle with pecans and syrup in it. I’m sure it will taste lovely, but the traditionalist in me will be missing my sweet potatoes with marshmallows on top. Oh well, marriage is compromise is it not? Year after year, I crave the exact same things. Frosted sugar cookies, fantasy fudge from the back of the Kraft Marshmallow Fluff jar, mexican wedding cookies(or Russina tea cakes depending where you are from). I’m know that there are a variety of wonderful treats for everyone to enjoy but I always go back to the stand bys.
