These Molasses Dog Biscuits are roll out dog treat that you can make into fun shapes for your pup to enjoy.
A few weeks ago my dog had asked you all for a couple dog bone recipes…we got over 50…so thank you.
While my mom was here (also a dog owner) I mentioned to her that I wanted to start making my own dog treats.
She was very much on board with this and also wanted to make her puppy some as well.
So after the Easter dishes were done we set out to make dog biscuits.
We made three types of biscuits.
These Molasses Dog Biscuits were a big hit.
The dogs gladly ate them whenever they were tossed their way.
I think both of them liked the molasses flavor.
FulI confession, I did get lazy after a while and just cut them into squares. 🙂
Just like I do when making Christmas cookies.
While these did not last more than a few days at my house, you could keep them in an airtight container for up to two weeks.
If your human loves treats too they should buy my cookbook Holy Sweet!

Is it wrong that I want a bite of those biscuits?

Oh goodness I really do want a puppy!
We travel too much to have a puppy…
Oh, I really miss having a puppy…
Did you just give the puppy all the biscuits at once? How could you ever say no to those puppy eyes…

My husband loves your love of hockey. He is considering taking you on as a second wife.
You dog is so beautiful and what a lucky dog she is to have a mommy who makes her homemade bones.
I am definitely going to try the peanut butter ones for my dog.

Lucky puppy, look at all those doggalicious treats! I bet your fur-kid was happy with all these yummies!

Sorry about Calgary Peabody, but the dog bones/cookies look great. I’m going to make the ones with molassas for Xam, but I’ll bet Sweetie will steal at least one. Hehehe.
Good luck for the next games.

The peanut butter and oatmeal recipe was mine — I’m so glad they were a hit! Every dog I’ve made them for goes nuts for them.

To say the truth, I’d be more than glad to take a bite of those peanut butter oatmeal biscuits myself.

Who knew making dog biscuits wouldn’t be crazy technical to make! These are a great gift idea…hmmm.
And – The Thrashers? Ugh! Losing in the series to the Rangers 2-0. But, this is the first go-around for our young team….:) I have faith!

lucky pup. I use to make dog bones for Pooh Bear too. I think used bacon and cheese. Trouble is the hubby kept eating them as they lay cooling on the baking rack.

Those look good enough to eat! You, I’m sure, have one happy little dog now.

I’ll definitely be making some of these for our two. Dogs that is.
I hadn’t heard that garlic was bad for dogs, quite the opposite in fact and I used to give our dogs garlic pills with their food. However, as you quite rightly note, if you’re iffy about using anything, then don’t use it.
Thanks for sharing!

A blog reader of mine just referred me to your site for these recipes. My Miss Daisy’s birthday is Saturday – I’m gathering recipe ideas for her. =) Thanks for the post – beautiful cookies! I think they all look delish! -Anna.

i have the understanding from a friend that cornmeal is bad for a dog and the dog has a verry hard time digesting it. and that i can make them verry sick, true?
Peabody says
My dong has never gotten sick from digesting it and my vet has never listed it as something to avoid. I would just not make them if you have concerns.

so I hope it’s not too insulting that the first recipe of yours I tried was for my pup. I made the peanut butter and molasses cookies, and she loved them both.
They didn’t kill her, though she had some tummy issues – probably because they were rich.
The only problem I had, not at all recipe related, was that I brought them to Florida, and the humidity made the peanut butter treats moldy. We chucked those and kept the molasses ones in the fridge after that. Thanks so much, can’t wait to try one of your people recipes!

I made these recently. My friends’ dog LOVES them.
However I had a bit of a problem with them. I made them as the recipe stated. But they weren’t holding together at all, so I added another egg. Nope. Didn’t help. I ended up adding King Arthur AP flour till I had enough consistency and less stickiness and they Finally held together. I couldn’t even roll little balls out of them until I did that, much less cut them with cookie cuters or make tiny “dog bones” with them. Any suggestions Peabody?
I am going to make more of the other cookies, as I do a Lot of pet-sitting and one family has seven rescue & foster dogs. And their adult son has two rescue pups. I know and have sat for all those dogs (not at the same time, usually no more than five). I’ll keep you post on how the others turn out.
But please do let me know any suggestions you have to improve my experience with these (I used cornmeal like I would use for cornbread, maybe yours is more finely ground than mine???)
Thanks for ALL the great recipes through all the years. I think I’ve been following your blog since around 2010? or thereabouts.
Peabody says
The cornmeal is what I am thinking. I use a pretty fine one. You might even try Masa in there. Also, you may want to try rolling them out between wax paper (that’s what I do with my stickier doughs).
