Harry and David Mother’s Day Giveaway….

Mother’s Day will soon be upon us. The day that we celebrate the woman that gave birth to us. I of course celebrate that every day. 🙂 But in all seriousness I do try and let my mom know how wonderful she is. It’s pretty hard to find someone that doesn’t like my mom and if they don’t like her it’s probably because they are a rotten person (for reals) and she probably chose not to deal with their bull crap! She’s kind, funny (well she doesn’t do it on purpose but we laugh at her a lot 🙂 ), she’s charitable ALWAYS doing something for her community center or church. She’s one heck of an entertainer always having her friends over, especially those who don’t have family around. She’s a fundraising fool for all her causes, especially Relay for Life.

So when Harry and David asked me if I wanted to do a Mother’s Day Giveaway I thought heck yeah I do. And what a giveaway it is! I love this basket. It’s a $60 (well $59.95) value! Such great stuff:
4 Royal Riviera Pears (because every basket should have at least one of Harry and David’s pears!)
Milk Chocolate Moose Munch Popcorn (6 oz.) (because every giveaway I must give this…when I went to their store (they have a ton of flavors there) I tried my best to buy them out of Moose Munch. I love it sooo much)
2 Chocolate-enrobed Heart-shaped Raspberry Galettes (1.75 oz. each) (because you need something heart shaped to show your mom the love)
Chocolate Strawberries (4 oz.) (these are not dipped but chocolate covered dried strawberries and yeah, they are tasty)

  28. My mom. Hmmm, how do I sum her up into words…? My mom was always EVERYONES mom. Kids from all alround the neighborhood would call her mom. She was always like a big kid growing up. Now that I am all grown up, she is still like a big kid. But I love her with all of my heart and soul. I wouldn’t trade her for the world. Well, for this basket I might trade her.   30. My mom has always been loving and supportive. I am SO blessed to have her as a mom. Even though I live far from her right now, I cherish the times that we can spend together.

  32. I gave birth to my second child two weeks ago. So, for the second time, my mother dropped everything to help me adjust, help me get around, sleep, make sure we were all getting fed, and much more. She is the ultimate inspiration for a mothers love, and for family dedication.

  33. I am going to go out on a limb here and comment on my amazing mother-in-law!!! She is IRREPLACABLE!!! What a person, a tremendously dedicated mom, grandma (mamaw), doughter, sister, etc!!! I would be lost without her:)

  35. I was just thinking good thoughts of my mama. My mom is truly my best friend. I love her more than she will ever know. She has done so much for other people and for us. I don’t think she has a clue the impact she has on others. This Saturday, my sweet mom is going to dog sit for me. I know that sounds like nothing, but my dog just had surgery. She requires constant supervision and she is having toilet issues. Mom doesn’t care. She said she will lay on her dog bed with her and just love her. That’s the kind of mom I have. She’ll do anything for anyone. I love her so much.

  39. My mom is no longer with us, unfortunately. She raised 7 kids and worked night & day to raise us right. She taught me how to be a mom by example. I love her and miss her and think of her often.

  47. First I’d like to announce I have had 3 woman in my life I call mom. First my biological mom whom though she chose to leave me with my father when I was 5, this brings me to my second mom My dad remarried and she did not appear to be a fan of children, so at the age 12, I moved in with my best friends family and her mom became my third mom and raised me into the woman I am today. Though as a child it seemed harsh to be given away constantly, As an adult all 3 moms are in my life and are all grandmothers to my kids. I love them all in different ways, and would say each has impacted my life in positive ways. A Harry and David Gift would be fantastic to share with all of them. =) Thank you kindly for the opportunity.

  48. I miss my mom so much. I loved her and she always loved me. After she was gone I realized just how much she added to my life. She was a special, wonderful, and kind person.

  50. My mom likes to sew quilts and hates sewing clothes. I like sewing clothes and hate sewing quilts. But we both love each other 🙂

  71. My Mama was an amazing woman. She’s been gone now for almost 16 years. But she was creative, loving, the most caring woman I’ve ever met and not a day goes by that I don’t miss her immensely. She was my rock.

  81. My mom is now enjoying her retirement. In 2011, she took her first ever cruise to Alaska. Yesterday, she left for Belgium. I am so happy for her. She worked very hard as a single mom to raise two daughters and she deserves to have fun. She also is ready to babysit any time she is asked even though I live five hours from her and my sister lives almost two hours away.

  83. My Mom has been my ROCK. She means everything to me! In October of 2009 she was diagnosed with CML (Leukemia). I’m so fortunate to still have her with me today thanks to some amazing scientists that helped develop a chemo pill called Gleevec. She’s been in remission since taking this wonderful medication. She will have to take it for the rest of her life, but , we are so thankful for more time with her and cherish the moments we spend with her.

  86. My mom is my best friend… she sent me off to the first day of kindergarten with this wise advise: “Have fun, don’t get caught.” 🙂 And I would share this box with Momma!

  87. My mom’s love of cooking and sewing greatly influenced my life. However, her love of cleaning somehow missed me – and even though it bothers her, she tries not to mention it (too much). She’s also been a great supporter to me and the children in my care when I decided to become a foster parent.

  109. I was raised by my grandmother. She’s 93 now. Remarkable woman. She supported her family of 6 on an elementary teacher’s salary. She makes people smile and if they are lucky, she’ll make them laugh. I love her.

  115. I’d def share with my mom. My mother taught me to cook and bake and she still makes incredible food even after she fell and lost her sense of smell/taste over 13 years ago. Since then, as a family we go by taste (for us) and texture for my mom. Interesting way to eat, but we know our textures!! FOr her birthday she’ll ask for a dessert that’s “creamy, crunchy, tangy, and fluffy” hahaha (ps. lemon icebox pie did the trick!)

  116. I wish I could share those treats with my mom, haystacks used to be her absolute favorite from the Whitman’s box. She has Alzheimer’s now and can’t eat solid food but she might be able to manage one of those delicious truffles.

  148. My mom used to get mistaken for my older sister, seriously! It was not the kind, joking gesture people normally say. They truly thought she was maybe 10 years older than me!

  155. My mom was an awesome girl scout leader. I have few memories of my childhood (after an accident) but many people still talk about how her girlscout meetings were the best.

  156. My Mom was special. She was my best friend for 23 years (I’m 32). We spent at least 4 days together a week and spoke at least 5 times a day on the phone. I will never have another friend like her. She passed away on March 4th, 2013. Sometimes, I miss her so much it chokes me. Mostly I just feel so blessed that I had a Mom like her, no matter for how short of a time. This Mothers day will be a tough one, I will just have to cling to my two young children and try to be the Mother to them that she was to me.

  157. My mom stepped up when my dad left and did the single-mom thing before it became common place. She worked hard and has really pulled her life back together. I’m super proud of her.

In spite of having practiced for days and days what it would be like, visiting the school, looking over the classroom, on my first day of kindergarten I was terrified and pleaded with my mother not to leave me there. She asked me if it would be all right if she went where I could see her through the window, to the park bench across the street. She said she would remain there all day, every day if necessary, until I told her she could leave.

    For the next three days, she remained on that bench where I could see her, reading a book. Until I told her she didn’t have to be there anymore.

    Mom’s like that. I think of her as the training wheels on my bicycle. Gentle support, until I gain mastery.

  161. My mom is a fantastic runner. She inspires me whenever I’m out on a walk or run. She’s consistently kicking some serious butt in her age group and is just becoming a better runner with age. I’m just really proud of how awesome she is and I hope to be as cool as her when I’m fifty.

  166. When I was very young (and then not so young!) we would sing. I would sing the melody and Mom would come in with the harmony. It made me “automatically” hear harmony easily…and when I discovered I could actually sing where someone WANTED to hear me, it sure came in handy! I will always remember all the singing….. Pure joy! Despite my mom having a head injury from a car accident she was in when I was a teenager, my mom still does her best to take care of everyone and as someone who was fiercely independent my entire childhood handles being dependent on others to drive her around with grace. My mom is my soul mate in a way no one else ever could be because she just gets me. I love my husband and he is my best friend but he will never just get me the way she does.

  217. My mom passed away in July of 2012 so this will be the first Mother’s Day without her 🙁 I am a mom so I would share this delicious prize with my kids 🙂

Years later when I went to visit a childhood friend she told me that she wished her mom was like mine growing up. My mom always made sure my brother and I were involved in numerous things to make us well rounded adults.

    She can be a bit crazy at times, but she has one of the purest hearts I have ever seen in a person. Even when she is down she finds a way to see the positive in the situation.

  223. My mom is the most amazing woman on the face of the planet. No lie. She is selfless, caring, kind, and generous. My brother passed away about a month ago, he was only 38 (!!). She has been having a truly hard time with his passing. It was such a traumatic, tragic loss and we are all struggling with the day-to-day(me, my mom, my dad, and my older brother). It would mean so very much to me if I could give this to her. While it may not heal the hole in her heart, it might cheer her up for just a moment and she deserves all the cheering in the world.   242. For almost 32 years my parents have been the ideal example of a happy marriage. My mom’s positive attitude and unconditional love have encompassed my sister and I through difficult relationships and 4 complicated pregnancies. She even beat the emergency responders to me when I was in a car accident. Mom never hesitates to put her children and grandchildren before herself.
    She has supported my father, a Chiropractor, as his office manager for over 25 years. As with any small business, there are no paid vacations, sick days or raises. Any free time she finds she gives to anyone in need. I don’t know where she stores all the love that pours out of her heart that she so freely gives.
    This year is my mom’s 50th birthday and she deserves the very best!

It makes my heart melt. This is my first Mother’s Day and she is finally a grandma of my adopted sonshine that we have waited 8 years for.

  259. My mom understands my heart and loves unconditionally. She’s always there to laugh or cry along with me . She’s my best friend.

  265. My mom and I have always been close, but as I get older and am a mother to two of my own daughters, I am so grateful to her for NOT being my friend. She was my MOM.   267. My mom came to visit when my daughter was born in February and she was a tremendous help with all things baby. So thankful she was here for over a week!

  271. I used to sleep in on saturdays and when I would wake up I wouldn’t get dressed and I would stay in my pj’s all weekend. In responce she started to take my sisters to the store early saturday and sunday mornings and buy them cool things while I slept in. Well because I wanted to get cool stuff too I started waking up early and getting dressed on the weekends and I still do that to this day!

  282. This mothers day I graduate from the University of Illinois my momma who has trouble walking and a breathing will be attending my ceremony and nothing means more to me.   299. This year I am making my mom a grandma. I have never needed my mom so much since I’ve been her baby. I have learned this year that my mom is a flawed person like everyone else.   300. My mom raised ten kids, seven being her own. (After divorce his kids, my dad, came to live with her) She worked endless hours to support us all. She remarried, twelves years later my dad passed away. My mom stepped up to the plate, and handled all the finances for his autopsy, and cremation. She does so many things that surprise you. Deep down I know she handled it for us kids, on top of it all bought each of us a cross necklace in honor/remembrance of our dad. Shes a great woman, with a loving soul. One any should look up too, because I surely do.

  306. My mom volunteered in the classroom I taught in almost every day last year. She saw I needed help and was there for me and my 35 fourth graders. I’ll never forget her generosity.

  309. my mom is the hardest worker I know. worked at a factory right out of high school for over 35 years. when that Factory close their doors my mom never stop searching for a new job. she wouldn’t just settle for unemployment. she finally found another factory job after a year. a stable job with health insurance was the blessing she was looking for ( my dad is a severe diabetic). but starting over means she barely makes enough money to pay the bills now. I’d love to win the lotto and give it to my mom so she didn’t have to work so hard any more. Factory work has left her with bad hearing & joints. It just doesn’t seem fair… She is so kind & selfless.

  313. My mom deals with me, isn’t that enough?! 🙂 She is always there to support me at every dance competition and recital, and cares about me beyond anything I could ever ask for.Although we may have our moments, I seriously could not ever want a better mom than mine<3

  315. My mother is very materialistic and narcissistic and we are not close because growing up she was pleasing a future step-dad instead of showing physical love and attention to her two kids. She worked hard and played hard so instead of having her love and attention she bought us out with anything we wanted to please herself and my stepfather. He and I actually get along better now than her and I. When you are raised without hugs and kisses and affection it makes you bitter and hard to change for your kids so you don’t repeat the cycle. I am now a mother of three and I have to remind myself to give them some extra attention they deserve. My kids come first and as a matter of fact if I win the Harry and Davids Chocolates I will keep them, tell my kids thank you and let them help me eat it all. Thanks for this little giveaway because win or lose it gave me a place to vent out some suppressed feelings.

  316. My mom is a fun, crazy person to be around but she has a lot of health problems. She has had a rough life. She has 2 metal rods in place of her spine among many other unfortunate issues and she actually spent two months (last year) in the hospital of a strep bacterial infection. She was comatose for 2 weeks but slowly came back to her old self (not that she’s old lol!) She missed my daughter’s first birthday because if this incident. Needless to say, though she’s doing better now she still struggles with her other health problems every day. The poor woman hasn’t actually felt “good” in close to 20 years now. If anyone deserves a special gift like this, it’s her. We all appreciate this nice gesture 🙂

  319. My mom deserves something special and I think that this gift box would be perfect. She works full time as an insurance agent and has 4 children. She is the single most self-less, inspirational, and outgoing person I have ever met in my life, and I’m not just saying that because she is my mom 🙂 I wish I could buy her something nice like this but I am a broke, college student who can’t afford to buy her anything like this.   321. My mom may not have the hardest life like most others, but she does have the hardest job. The 5 of us kids make her stay on her toes 24/7. Whether we need rides to places or new clothes, shoes, things for school, etc… she is always there for us. Lately, shes been struggling with her own personal happiness, and has become more and more stressed as the days go by. I want to be able to give her the best thing ever so my plans for mothers day is to give her the garden she always wanted but has never had time to build. She would adore this gift and hopefully it could make her day by being treated like the queen she really is, but never gets to be.

  322. I think my mom should win becouse she has worked really hard all my life as a single mom raising 3 kids and many times she would go with out so that we could have. She worked 3 jobs to provide and has always been there for all of us. She still continues to be there if we ever need anything she will drive across the U.S. to make sure we are taken care of.   324. There is so much to say about my mom. She does so much, she is a teacher, a friend, and most of all a really great mother. Being a daughter who has gone through so much growing up she has never left my side or told me to go a certain way. When people ask me who I am the closest with I always say my mother without hesitation. She is my partner in crime especially through all of our crazy adventures and endless bucket list. Mainly though she is my best friend. Coming from a military family you end up being really close to your family especially when you have to go through a lot of struggles.   325. They’re are many things to say about my mom. She is the strongest person I know. She was a single mother to 4 kids and took on the role as mother and father when my dad walked out of our lives. Last year, she had a stroke and her health has gone down quite a bit but we are all so hopeful for her to get better. This would really make her mother’s day as she loves Henry and David’s pears!

  343. My mom was a fun and loving mom to all of us, to other kids that she “raised” (more or less!), and now to her grandkids. She was a great role model for all of us, and now that I am a mom I see just how hard that is. I love my kids, but MAN can they try my patience. I hope they enter a contest some day and are able to honestly say great things about me too. It’s hard work being a mom and we can only HOPE that we get it right and don’t cause any damage as we fumble our way through parenting! =)

  347. One of the things I look at most fondly about my mom is how much she spills. Every time she eats, she spills the food on her clothes. She’ll even wear an paron to dinner, and the food manages to land on her shirt in the ‘v’ where the apron opens. My dad and I wait all dinner for it to happen. It is so funny, and such a quirky thing about her.

  350. Simply put, if I could be half the woman & mom that my mom is…I would be doing A-OK. She is the perfect balance of driving me nuts but also being everything I need from a mom when I need it. This year will be her first Mother’s Day without my grandmother so I’ll be loving on her even more because I know her heart is hurting.

    Side note about Harry & David’s…we ordered her a pear gift order for my mother-in-law for Mother’s Day. They let you order well in advance so we’ve had it done for a month.

Well, I was always told “if you can’t say anything nice, then don’t say anything at all.” So instead, I will say that although my mom has never treated me good and we are no longer on speaking terms, my mother-in-law has taken me in as her own and has shown me the kind of motherly love I was never shown. It’s too bad that she lives in Calgary, cause if I did win this basket, I would totally give it to her (unless the basket will last until June, that’s when she comes down to visit ;]). I can never thank her enough for always being there for me when I need a mom.

  352. My mom is the bravest woman I know. She is currently battling ovarian cancer. She is handing it with strength courage faith and a good sense of humor. She has had so many bumps along the road to overcome but she has done so with flying colors. She has not let this sickness take away her love of crafts or family. Everyone my mom knows is praying as everyone loves her as well. She is the life of the family she holds us all together. She is there when you need her no questions asked. Her personality shines through no matter what and who she encounters. She is such an amazing giving caring woman, and I am proud to call her my mom.

  353. I love that my mom stays active- she looks a decade younger! I hope I can do the same when it’s my turn. She enjoys skiing for half price right now (for seniors), and when she turns 70 in 4 years she will ski for FREE!!! 🙂
